Description

Freedom 45 CC:

‘Joyous’ is rigged and ready for adventure!  This Freedom 45 Center Cockpit is well equipped with a large solar array, wind generation and ample sleeping accommodations for two cruising couples.

This free standing sloop rig affords her wide and unencumbered side decks. The location of the mast step frees up the center of the boat, making for ample living accommodations. 'Joyous' is especially bright below with her birds eye maple and cherry trim, tow-tone interior, numerous opening hatches and port lights. Both the primary stateroom aft and her V-berth boast an abundance of storage space as well as adjacent/ ensuite marine heads. Her galley is fit for a gourmet chef- outfitted with a large fridge and separate freezer, a Force 10 3 burner LP gas stove, oven and broiler.

An electric-powered, 2 speed, winch affords push button ease for hoisting her sails with incredible ease! Her design easily allows for short-handed, or single handed sailing- and while her sail plan has been adapted from the traditional wishbone headsail, she is easily handled by one person without leaving the safety and comfort of her cockpit.

On Deck:

This Center Cockpit cuiser shines in any harbor with her bright white topsides, teal canvas and green bottom paint. Starting from her bow, 'Joyous' is outfitted for the serious cruiser. She has a double anchor roller leading back to a spacious anchor locker with chain rode, Lewmar windlass with operating foot pedals and wash down plumbing. She is equipped with both a substantial Fortess danforth and a 48lb CQA anchor. Her HOOD headsail is set up in a Furlex 300s roller furler. All her sail controls run aft to her cockpit.

Her sail plan has been modified from the traditional wishbone headsail configuration to a Harken tacking track. Her fully battened mainsail stows comfortable within her convenient FURLBOOM in-boom furling system. The Freedom 45 was designed with safety and comfort as principle values and thus she boasts a metal toerail and heavy duty stainless lifelines.

Following along her wide and unencumbered side decks, you'll enjoy the two-tone, tan and white non-skid and waterways. This bi-color scheme reduces glare when underway in the sun and is much simpler in terms of annual maintenance than teak decking. Aft of the rigid boom vang and Viking life raft is her teal center cockpit enclosure. This sturdy structure provides ample protection from the elements and works to extend your season while cruising in New England waters. Her mainsheet meets the deck at another Harken traveller bar, deck-mounted aft of the cockpit enclosure. These control lines also lead into the cockpit for ease of operation while underway.

Entering her zippered enclosure, you'll cross a comfortable teak tread and come into a spacious and well laid out cockpit. Flanking her companionway are sets of sail control clutches, cockpit speakers and winches. The primary winch to starboard boasts two-speed, push button controls for incredible ease of halyard operation.

Her helm is outfitted with an ergonomically friendly throttle, engine read-outs, a binnacle compass and Garmin GPSmap 5212 chart plotter. The autopilot (Raytheon ST7000+) controls are to starboard of the skipper's position. This center cockpit is incredibly comfortable with her plush white cockpit cushions, bolsters and custom skipper seated back rest. She's also rigged for entertaining on deck, with a lovely teak, flip-up cockpit table

*At the time of this listing (July 2021) her hour meter reads 5,490 hours *

At her stern, you'll find a dedicated, double propane locker to port and a line/ storage locker mirroring to starboard. Overhead at her transom is an impressive stainless arch, outfitted with three Kyocera solar panels (KD 135GX-LP), a mast with twin radar domes, a wind generator, lifesling throwable, dingy davit system, swim ladder and sugar scoop transom.

Below Deck:

Passing down through her companionway, ‘Joyous’ opens up into a wide and well adorned salon. There is a long settee to port that works well as an underway berth with lee-cloth connections. There are custom built water tank and storage beneath this settee, book shelves above and the famous Freedom 45 liquor cabinet with built-in light and drop-down serving area. This is a wonderful amenity for entertaining!

To starboard is an L-shaped settee with large, fixed table. The table doubles in size when opened to offer an enormous dining accommodation for at least eight guests! Her additional water tanks and water maker (PUR Power Survivor-80II) are beneath this seating area. These settees are upholstered in a light green with subtle, variegated stripe. All her lighting fixtures have been upgraded to LED fixtures. There are central lights mounted in her headliner and multiple reading lights throughout.

To port and aft of the salon settee is her galley. She's fit for a gourmet chef and easily utilized while underway. 'Joyous' is outfitted with a large fridge, separate freezer, microwave (Spacemaker III), impressively large stainless steel sink, fresh water/ drinking water filter, ample storage and a spice rack!

Following aft and to starboard is her dedicated navigation station. She is comprised of a very large chart table with ample desk space for doing far more than chart work. In this day and age of remote work 'Joyous' is uniquely outfitted for ease of use! Her marine electronics are above at the navigation station, as well as a set of desk drawers- fitting pentaflex files! 'Joyous' is outfitted with a analog clock, barometer, wind indicator, iCOM VHF (IC-M504), Furino and Garmin Radar (GPSmap 5208), AIS, and SSB radio, and wi-fi booster. 'Joyous' is outfitted with a Whaler water heater as well.

Her V-berth or guest cabin is forward. Outfitted with a marine head with dual access, to act as both a day and en-suite to the v-berth accommodations. There is ample stowage beneath the berth in two large drawers and shelving outboard to both port and starboard. This forward cabin is also outfitted with a hanging locker and an additional set of bureau drawers to port. There is a large overhead hatch for natural ventilation and light and three opening hull-side ports. Centerline and below her companionway stairs is her 66hp, Yanmar diesel engine (model 4JH-HTBE). She is outfitted with twin fuel filters. The forward head is to starboard, outfitted with a shower. There is a marine toilet, vanity with fresh water sink, mirror and ample storage. Overhead is another deck hatch for natural ventilation.

Primary stateroom or master is aft through a comfortable wide passageway. She is home to an impressively sized, centerline, walk-around queen berth and en-suite head. This primary stateroom provides ample storage as well, comprised of numerous drawers, small and large locker spaces and additional stowage beneath the berth. The ensuite, aft head even has a full length mirror! She is outfitted with a marine head, shower, vanity with fresh water sink, medicine cabinet and teak grated sole.

'Joyous' was freshly bottom painted before her splash this 2021 Spring season.
