The settlement was founded around the 3rd century BC, according to historians, the resort town got its name in honor of the Illyrian queen Teuta.
The airport of the same name is located 4 km from Tivat, in the Grbal valley. To get to the resort, you can use public transport or taxi services.
In 1889, the Maritime Arsenal was created in the city for the ships of the Austro-Hungarian fleet, now in its place is the Porto Montenegro marina, built by Peter Munch and receiving super-yachts.
