This 2004 Robalo R235 walkaround is powered by Yamaha 300 HPDI w/ 708 hours on the motor as of August 28 (when we last had it out on the lake). The boat features a Lowrance GPS, VHF radio, Compass, dual batteries with an onboard battery charger, hard top, transom bench seat atop the livewell, raw water washdown, offshore personal flotation devices stored in the hard top, sleeping berth with fresh water sink and manual head, tandem axle trailer and much more.
Rod storage, full-sized insulated fish boxes and wraparound cockpit bolsters are all extras aimed at the serious angler. Two adults can sleep comfortably in the V-berth cabin that also doubles as a dinette. All the cushions inside and out received new upholstery last year.
The engine cowling has lost some of its paint over the years and could use some touch-up. The hatch that passes down into the cabin has a faulty lift support and likewise a crack developed in the corner of the lid. It was reattached with a 3M adhesive. I’ve included photos of those issues.
My family has used this boat for a mix of activities – from lake lounging to hard core offshore fishing. This boat will take you anywhere. The deep V makes cutting through the waves to get to the good fishing grounds a breeze. We used this boat primarily to go fishing 50+ miles off the banks of Hatteras, NC and also in the calm sandy coves of Kerr Lake in Virginia. We moved to Texas a few years ago and it now resides at Lake LBJ in Marble Falls, TX. Regretfully, the kids are grown and we just don’t use it like we should.
