LAYOUT, ACCOMODATIONS

UNIQUE LAYOUT with PRIVATE STATEROOM

From the bow, the cabin has a very large V-berth, sleeping two quite comfortably. This forward berth has a step allowing far easier access. The berth converts with a filler piece to make a large bed. There are shelves over the berth, both to port and starboard. A Flat screen TV is located at foot of berths. Two hanging lockers, several drawers and lockers.

In the aft part of the cabin is the bulkhead, separating the cabin from the salon and galley.

This is a UNIQUE FEATURE

GALLEY AND HEAD TO PORT

Next aft, Galley is to port with a hanging locker aft.

The head is aft of the galley and has a custom built vanity, toilet, numerous cabinets and a shower.

DINETTE

The dinette is to starboard, and drops down to form another double berth.

BRIDGE DECK, HELM DECK

Three steps up is the bridge deck with large L-shaped settee and dinette. The table converts to a berth. To port is the chart table, and to starboard is the helm, with a Stidd helm seat. Aft of the Helm Chair is a drink frig in custom teak locker hard mounted to the deck. The entire bridge deck lifts for easy access to engine room.

COCKPIT

Down two steps is the cockpit with bench seat at stern. A hot and cold shower is at the stern. The bridge deck and cockpit soles are laid teak. Interior joinery work is teak.

OTHER DETAILS: Custom cushions were hand built by Hinckley in 2021. The material is a very subtle green Sunbrella brand fabric, and the cushions on helm deck and in cockpit were all new in 2021.

FORE DECK: The fore deck has a very large and deep storage locker, accessed via a Lewmar deck hatch.

ELECTRICAL

The electrical system of the Little Harbor 38 was engineered in accordance with ABYC standards and incorporates a 12 V DC ships electrical system powered by the batteries. Additionally, the shore power system is 110/125 V AC at 60 hz, and power comes from three sources: 1. the shore power system via dock power; 2. the 5 kW Northern Lights generator; 3. the Trace 2500 Watt inverter.

At the heart of the electrical system is the BASS brand Breaker panel. The panel consists of circuit breakers, and is mounted starboard in the companionway. There are volt meters and ammeters for the DC and AC systems managed thru the Trace Inverter controller. Additionally, the following equipment was included as part of the original build out and comprises first class build standards often missed in many other yachts of this size.

HULL

  • NOTE IMPORTANT UPDATE: In July 2020, Jackrabbit had an important and essential upgrade to her hinged deck structure. The helm deck was removed and the hinge point was massively restructured with FRP L brackets both on the aft portion of the deck where the helm deck part meets and on the helm deck hinge area itself. This is fairly important surgery and should be performed by the techs at Hinckley, Little Harbor. This makes Jackrabbit far more valuable as this renewed structure puts her in a small number of sisterships that have had the update.

BROKERS COMMENTS

Evelyn Cowles was built for long time Little Harbor owners who wanted the best of the best. Nothing less.

The current owners have carried on the same tradition of excellent care as her first owners and have upgraded her to modern standards - committing to excellence regarding her standard of care.

She has had many mechanical and electrical and cosmetic updates, making her in my view, an excellent choice in a cruising yacht.

She is ready to cruise. Now.

In a market short of available boats, there is even a greater shortage of pedigree boats loaded with extras..

Then advancing the thinking a little more, there is a shortage of pedigree boats in outstanding shape being sold by owners who just said, MAKE IT THE BEST ONE.

The smart money goes after the well cared for yacht, spending a little more.

If you want a cheap boat that's been left for dead, un maintained, moldy, smelly and with bad electrics, mechanicals, etc., that you can fix up, please do not come looking here. This is the opposite and you'll never be happy looking at this near perfect example.

RECENT UPDATES, 2020-2022

Evelyn Cowles has had of late, some really substantive upgrades and she is in cruise ready condition as a result. Being fully vested in the Hinckley Service program has only helped her achieve  a far more refined level of fitness.

1. Hinge repair. The helm deck hinge repair is one of the most significant repairs required on WhisperJets. This repair allows the deck to hinge up, allowing techs to access the engine space. New summer 2020

2. Cushions and covers. Her helm deck and cockpit cushions are all new in 2021. A very tasteful light green fabric was chosen.

3. Stidd Chair recovering.

4. New Swim ladder.

5. New KVH Wifi system allowing wifi far offshore

6. New galley refrigerator

7. Bottom paint stripped and reapplied

8. Full certified Jet service - by HINCKLEY

9. Engine Service. 1000 hour service performed summer 2022.

10. Mast stripped down and completely re-painted, awlgrip

A gorgeous yacht without compare, this fully optioned 2001 Little Harbor 38 is a superb example of the 38 WhisperJet series. She is fully ready to go and only for sale due to the owners quest for a larger boat.

Equipped to cruise immediately, she has Yanmar 370 horsepower diesels driving Hamilton water jets, thus, is fast and able and may ply the shallows. With NEARLY, pull up to the beach abilities, she is versatile and not restricted as others are. She has a few unique features, but the one standout interior feature is her private stateroom layout.

With a whole list of upgrades and refit details, she is NOT ONE TO MISS.

2020, 2021 Upgrades: New cushions in helm deck, and cockpit, newly recovered Stidd Chair, new galley refrigerator, new KVH LTE wi-fi system, new shore power cord, new metal work, mast painting, new Vetus bow thruster, 1000 hour Yanmar engine service, new elbows on engines, new varnish, etc.

She has had all the necessary gear and presents as a more refined and well cared for vessel than most. Being a 2001, she has the longer deck, thus more interior cabin geometry, and with a teak deck and teak transom, she sparkles.

Evelyn Cowles has been in the Hinckley Program since purchased by her current owners and has been lavished with attention.
